From Ridgeview you are 5 to 8 minutes from Interstate 270 via Reed or Henderson, which puts Dublin at 15 minutes, Polaris at 22 to 28, Easton at 20 to 25 and Hilliard at 15. The airport is 30 to 35 minutes and about 17 miles. Downtown Columbus is 18 to 22 minutes via State Route 315, and Ohio Stadium is 15 to 20 minutes outside event traffic. This is the best-connected corner of Upper Arlington for anything north or west, and the worst for anything south.
Parking is free and abundant everywhere, including at the parks and shopping strips, with the exception of high-school event nights when the surrounding residential streets fill up. COTA runs buses along the Henderson Road corridor and further north, but interior residential coverage is thin and schedules change; check COTA for current routes and fares before assuming you can manage without a car. The good windows are mid-January to late February, when a three-bedroom rental here can drop under $130 a night and afternoon highs sit in the 30s, and the second half of July into early August, when Upper Arlington families are away and the water parks are the main attraction. For a relocating family it also answers the question that matters most, which is what the high-school commute actually feels like at 7.30am in November.
Skip Ridgeview if you came to see Columbus, if you are car-free, or if you want the postcard version of Upper Arlington. The historic streets, the Mallway and the civic core around Northam Park are all a drive away, and this northern band is functional rather than photogenic. In those cases put yourself in Old Arlington or near the Mallway for character, Grandview Heights for evenings, or Worthington if you want walkable and cheap and do not mind being outside Upper Arlington altogether.
