What makes them work for dogs is the surroundings: low-rise buildings, big surface lots with landscaped edges, and Old Worthington's village grid a short drive away for a genuinely pleasant evening walk past shopfronts rather than drive-thrus. Do not expect glamour. Rooms are functional, breakfast is waffle-iron standard, and the highway hum is audible in the rear-facing rooms. But for a traveller whose priority is a dog that sleeps through the night, this cluster beats the campus corridor decisively and costs $40 less. Pair it with a morning at Highbanks Metro Park up US 23, which has miles of leashed-dog trail and is 12 minutes from these hotels.
Urban option: downtown Columbus and the Short North
